7 DAYS BEST OF UGANDA GORILLA, CHIMPANZEE SAFARI
Wilderness Trips will take you on a tour of 7 days around Uganda through Kibale forest national park (Primate capital of the world)with the highest concentration of thirteen primate species in 795km2.The you will continue to Queen Elizabeth national park, Uganda’s second biggest national park occupying close to 1,978 square km with a world biosphere reserve with a RAMSAR wetland site and Bwindi impenetrable national park home to over 370 gorillas, accommodating almost a half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas.
DAY 1: TRANSFER TO KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
You will be picked up from Mityana by the guide who will transfer you to Fort portal town. The journey will take you through the lush green countryside on Mityana-Mubende road to Fort portal and stopover at some coffee holdings tea plantations and open swamp valleys. In the afternoon you will visit the crater region and then in the evening, transfer to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Meal plan lunch
DAY 2: CHIMPANZEE TREKKING IN KIBAALE AND CRATER LAKES TOUR IN FORT PORTAL
After breakfast, you will head to the Park headquarters at Kanyachu for chimpanzee tracking briefing by the Park Rangers. You will then head into the forest for a Half day search of chimpanzee. The guide will provide detailed explanations, not only on primates, but also on all the forest fauna and flora and will ensure that your walk is both informative and enjoyable
You will have lunch and later on go for crater lakes tour in Fort portal
DAY 3: TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National park. On arrival in the park you will check in to your accommodation and have lunch. After lunch you will go for an afternoon boat trip on the Kazinga channel for game viewing and Bird watching.
DAY 4: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK (CHIMPANZEE TRACKING IN THE KYAMBURA GORGE AND BOAT CRUISE ON THE KAZINGA CHANNEL)
Begin your day with a cup of coffee and then transfer to Kyamubra Gorge reserve for early morning Chimpanzee tracking.
After lunch, a two hour boat trip along the famous Kazinga channel is a worthwhile opportunity to see Hippos, Buffalo, Kobs, Elephants, warthogs etc. This trip also gives visitors a chance to see spectacular birds.
From the launch cruise of the Kazinga Channel you will return to the lodge.
With great memories of the days activities you will proceed to Ihamba lakeside safari lodge for relaxation and dinner.
DAY 5: TRANSFER TO BWINDI
After an early breakfast you will be transferred to Bwindi through the Isasha sector with a game drive in this southern sector of Queen Elizabeth national park in order to see more fauna and Flora. You may be able to spot the tree climbing lions for which it is popular. On arrival in Bwindi, you will check in have lunch relax and enjoy the environment in Bwindi as you await tomorrow’s gorilla tracking.
DAY 6: GORILLA TRACKING
Up relatively early for a hearty breakfast to give you the energy needed for gorilla tracking, with your packed lunch report to the ranger station before 8:00 am for registration and a talk by one of the rangers. The guides will then take you through the bush, pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, to track the gorillas. (This trek can take from half an hour to 5 hours – a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes). Sit in the forest among the gorillas, listening to them grumble to each other, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the silver back. It is an extraordinary feeling sitting in the dense rainforest knowing you are with a few of the last remaining mountain gorillas. It’s amazing to think there are only about 800 of these beautiful creatures left.
DAY 7:RETURN TO KAMPALA
After breakfast you will return to Kampala. END OF SAFARI
